Tunis – A History

The region of Maghrib (North-West Africa), especially modern-day Tunisia is an area steeped in rich Islamic heritage and historical significance for it is renowned as the land of the Zuhur of Aimmah Fatemeyeen A.S. The area, with its still standing monumental structures, serves as a living testament to the profound spiritual and cultural influence of the Fatimid era and stands as a crucial site for understanding the Fatimid legacy.

Highlighting this deep connection, the historic journey undertaken 55 years ago (in 1389H)  by Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin R.A, and with him Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin T.U.S to Tunisia and other countries of Maghrib plays a pivotal role in linking the present with the past. Their travel to this land was not only a pilgrimage to these sacred sites but also a rekindling of the historical and spiritual bonds with the Fatimid legacy. This journey symbolizes a bridge between generations, illuminating the enduring significance of Tunis in the context of Fatimid history.

In this backdrop, the book “بهاء احلى التساليم على معاهد ود بجانب تونس” (Bahaao Ahsal at-Tasalim ala Ma’ahide Wuddin Bejanibe Tunis) emerges as a significant scholarly work which endeavors to encapsulate the essence of Tunisia’s Fatimid A’athar, offering a vivid portrayal through descriptions and photographs. The book is a homage to the architectural marvels and historical depth of Tunisia, reflecting the city’s historical importance under the Fatimids.
